There are a whole bunch of award-winning games out there that I tend to avoid because they seem more like interactive experiences than actual games. Video games are an amazing medium for storytelling, and while I love a good story, I still don’t want that game aspect to be forgotten, either. (Otherwise, I’d just read a book, y’know.) Nevertheless, sometimes it pays to take chances with games one might not normally want to play, and What Remains of Edith Finch is a prime example of that. (This post is not appearing on Virtual Bastion because Cary already covered this game in an excellent review of her own.)Continue reading Clinging to the Past in What Remains of Edith Finch
Today we begin our playthrough of Hatoful Boyfriend, a bizarre little game where you…um, date…pigeons?
Today we begin our playthrough of the True Pacifist Route in Undertale, the popular indie game where no one has to die!
Today we begin our playthrough of Celeste, a super difficult platformer where we help Madeline climb a mountain…and along the way, face a side of herself she’d rather forget.

This time around, we play as a boy named Mono, though it isn’t long before we are accompanied by Six from the original game. (We don’t find out it’s her until the end of chapter 2, but this detail is pretty much already spoiled in the game’s online description, so…) Mono’s goal is to brave the Pale City, reach the Signal Tower, and find the source of the Transmission. Along the way, he and Six encounter various grotesque creatures and must use stealth and wits to survive.Continue reading Little Nightmares 2 is Back for More Gruesome Goodness
We’ve already played through The Impossible Lair, and now we’ll be working our way through the original Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor to the well-loved Banjo-Kazooie!
Over the next five days, we’ll be working our way through the recently released horror game, Little Nightmares 2!
We just started a new Nostalgic Notions series on Virtual Bastion where Cary plays games from Rare Replay! The first episode is Jetpac from 1983!
Nostalgic Notions is a series where we play about 15 minutes of various retro games. It’s a good way to check out a bunch of old games in a short span of time!
