Whenever I am low on ideas, it is always easy to fall back on my trusty 30-day video game topics. While it was meant to take place over the course of 30 days, I have completely broken the rules and don’t even care. I’m a rebel like that. I don’t even heed the expiration date on ketchup. I’m that bad. I swear it tastes fine after a year. It really does. Tomatoes are good for you. Anyway, today’s topic was the one that was supposed to be meant for day ten, the game with the best gameplay. A lot of people will likely disagree with me on this one, and maybe “best” is not quite the correct word to use here. The game I will really be writing about is actually the game that has the most fun controls. Like most people, I am not typically a fan of the motion controls of the Wii. Nevertheless, I still have to make an exception because I absolutely loved the controls of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, a game which I believed used the Wiimote in the most effective way I had ever seen. Ghirahim Cosplay Status: All Done
This post is actually long past due, but yeah, my costume is done. The end. Seeing as I took so darn long to get around to this post, I kind of forgot where I left off, so I’ll try to summarize how I made the rest of the costume.
The Pants: Made Me Furious, Outraged, Sick With Anger!
Okay, so the pants. Making pants is, surprisingly, an easy process. Making pants with socks on the end, with diamond-shaped holes down the front, and that are form-fitting…is not as easy. After sewing together the two pants legs, which were made using some patterns I used for Kefka’s costume, I found they were horrendously big, and it took me many attempts of tightening the pants to make them fit me. The socks were not as hard to add as I expected. I looked at sock patterns on the Internet, and based on what I found, I really only needed to ensure that the legs were extra long to accommodate the feet, and then I added ovals on the bottom for the bottoms of my feet. These made the feet fit quite nicely, and it was a lot comfier than I expected. The holes in the front were made by wearing the pants and putting pins where each corner of the diamond should go. I went with only a few, as I thought making as many diamonds as would be accurate would be really annoying and would ruin the integrity of the pants, seeing as they’d need to be so darn close together. Since my pants were so tight, I really worried about them splitting, but they ended up holding together quite well. Nevertheless, I made sure I put them on carefully. The Duck Eludes a Beast
I had another dream the night of 2/3/15 that I found quite amusing, and it was clearly thanks to playing a lot of Hyrule Warriors at the time this dream occurred. In this dream, there was this large building that was supposed to be the Beast’s castle, except it was also kind of laid out like a house I once lived in, but much bigger. I was locked up in this cell, and when the Beast (is it THE Beast or just Beast?) wasn’t looking, I somehow managed to escape. (The) Beast started looking for me, but he walked really slowly and wasn’t too bright, as he wasn’t very good at spotting me and was rather like those video games where you’re eluding enemies, and you can be standing directly in front of them, but they won’t see you because you’re too far from them. Or they can’t see you even when you’re standing behind a scraggly bush.
The Beast, who sometimes looked like himself and sometimes Bowser from the Super Mario Bros series, walked through the castle, while I managed to stay out of sight. I once went into a room and hid behind an open door with some of my leg still showing, and he walked into the room and completely didn’t see me. Well, I wandered around this castle for quite some time, and I don’t know why I didn’t just try to get out of that place, but I remember two people eventually showing up to help me, one being Fi from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (who also makes an appearance in Hyrule Warriors) and someone else I don’t remember. It could’ve been Lana from Hyrule Warriors, if I were to guess.
All three of us hid in a bathroom at one point, rather frightened despite our “pursuer’s” slow movements, and then we were in this part of the castle that was especially like my old house, with a middle area that housed stairs and a pantry and the like, so that you could walk through all the rooms in one loop. I remember the Beast walking around this area while myself and my companions were by the stairs going to the upper floor. Ghirahim (from the same game as Fi) then showed up, and we peeked around the corner as he told the Beast where we were, who then turned and started coming in our direction. I then woke up shortly after. I must admit, this dream was strangely fun. I rather liked being friends with Fi. And possibly Lana, but I like Fi better. We simply must do this again sometime.

Good day, dear readers. It is finally time I gave you an update on my progress for this year’s masquerade. The Inexplicable Stress of Cosplaying Gets to the Duck
I’ve been stressing myself out quite a bit lately over my newest costume for the 2015 masquerade. I still need to type up a post on my progress, but for now, suffice it to say, I’m freaking myself out, largely for no reason. I’m sure I’ll get everything done in plenty of time, despite having to work with material I am not familiar with, such as craft foam and resin. And I have to give my wig a haircut… Nevertheless, I think my costume really will turn out pretty good, but my stress seems to be coming out in my sleep, considering the great number of dreams I’ve been having where the masquerade turns disastrous.
The night of 2/11/15, I dreamt I went to the comicon with my parents. I was dressed in my Ghirahim costume, and we walked about this immensely crowded place while looking for something my dad wanted to buy. It eventually occurred to me…I had completely forgotten about prejudging. It felt as if many hours had passed, but it was merely 9:30 in the morning, so I thought I would be okay. And yet, despite the hour, the line was absurd, and I worried I wouldn’t be allowed to enter the contest because they had too many entrants. I waited in line, which looped through all these rooms, and I did get to see the judges after quite some time. Continue reading The Inexplicable Stress of Cosplaying Gets to the Duck
Diamonds Are Not a Duck’s Best Friend
I just realized that I haven’t written about my costume progress lately, and oh, boy, the progress I have made. Which is…not that much. My first task of all was buying various supplies off of Amazon, which I may or may not have written about (I’m too lazy to check). Well, in case I did, I’ll summarize my experience with that for you.
Most wigs suck. Continue reading Diamonds Are Not a Duck’s Best Friend
