Drawing Vin 7 Years Later

Behold, another drawing comparison!  I love doing these, as it’s a great way to see how much I’ve improved over the years.  It’s also a bit painful to see how horrid my old pictures are….  Anyway, this is a comparison of two drawings I made of Vin from Jak II, which were drawn 7 years apart! Top 3 Songs from Crash Bandicoot 3

Another top songs post because, well, why not?  After completing the N. Sane Trilogy with the third and final game, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, I thought I’d share with you all my top 3 songs from the game  I’m rather tired so this might be a little short, but just as musically informative. Continue reading Top 3 Songs from Crash Bandicoot 3

Top 6 Songs from Crash Bandicoot

Not so very long ago, I finally had the pleasure of playing the original Crash Bandicoot game thanks to the N. Sane Trilogy on the PlayStation 4.  As you may have noticed by now, I enjoy listing my favorite video game music, and I certainly couldn’t ignore the very first Crash Bandicoot game.  Just keep in mind that this list includes music from the updated soundtrack, not the original one from the PS1.  But seriously, you can’t deny that Vicarious Visions did an excellent job remaking this game in all respects, music included!  And I’m doing a “top 6” list because I wanted to include an… Continue reading Top 6 Songs from Crash Bandicoot

Comparing Crash Bandicoot 1-3

After many long hours of platforming peril, both delightful and frustrating, the Duck has finally completed the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.  And almost with 100%, too.  While I was able to get 100% in the first two games (minus the relics), I was not able to get the final gem in the third game.  Since it, you know, required me to get all those silly relics, gold or higher.  Which is…not happening.  Though I had planned on writing a separate review for each of these three games, I decided it would be more fun to write a single review comparing my experiences with all of them. The Duck Finally Plays Crash Bandicoot

The Duck’s mission to experience all the classic games I possibly can has been mighty successful these past several years.  I’ve played such beloved SNES titles as Super Metroid, EarthBound, and Super Mario RPG.  I’ve even caught up on Squaresoft’s Final Fantasy 4-9 and Chrono Trigger.  The next set of games I had set my sights on was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot series from the PS1, a feat that became much easier with the release of the N. Sane Trilogy on the PS4.  As of writing this review, I have just managed to complete the very first Crash Bandicoot game, and here are my very interesting (hopefully) thoughts. Uncharted, We Meet Again

Sometimes, it feels as if certain games come to exist in my house thanks to pure fate.  Most of my games I seek out myself, but Uncharted is one series I never once put my mind to acquiring, and yet, here I stand the owner of not one, but two, entries from the series.  The main reason why Uncharted never really appealed to me was because I’ve never been a fan of games that are too…realistic, I guess?  There’s just something about games that feature realistic-looking humans or even just good, ol’ planet Earth that don’t appeal to me.  (I mean, the Sly Cooper series seems to take place on Earth, but it’s populated by anthropomorphic animals, which is okay in my book.)

When I bought my PS3, it was accompanied by Uncharted 3.  I decided to play the game, since I had it in my possession, after all, and while it was pretty cool, I quickly forgot about it shortly after completion.  For a short while, I considered checking out the first two games, and then that just never happened.  And yet, that was certainly not the last I would see of the series, even if I didn’t know it at the time.  It was with the recent purchase of my PS4 that another Uncharted game snuck its way into my gaming shelf once more, the fourth (and final?) entry in the series.

Fancy seeing you here, Nathan Drake.  Long time no see. Continue reading Uncharted, We Meet Again

Day 14: Current (or Most Recent) Gaming Wallpaper

The newest of the 30-day video game topics is my current or most recent video game-themed wallpaper.  As much as I would like to have actual video game wallpaper, I’m assuming they must mean my computer’s desktop.  And due to my obvious level of obsession with all things gaming, it should come as no surprise to anyone that I do indeed have a video game desktop.

I actually went through many different images for my desktop in the semi-distant past.  I…don’t remember most of them, but I do recall having a screenshot of the secret ending of Donkey Kong Country 2, where the Kongs are gazing at the sunset, along with a Jak 2 screensaver.  That’s right, there was a Jak 2 screensaver, which I earned by completing this odd, little game on the game’s official web site.  It had Jak sitting in jail, looking bored, while bugs crawled around and the sky outside would change depending on the time of day.  Kind of…weird, to say the last. Day 12: A Game Everyone Should Play

I am slowly making my way through the 30 days of video game topics I started…probably a few years ago, and today we have finally reached…number 12.  I’m not even halfway done yet!  Yikes!  Well, this topic involves a game everyone should play, and I had to put careful consideration into which one I would pick.  Not only do I have a lot of great games that I would definitely recommend to others, but I wanted to make sure my choice wouldn’t also be used in other 30-day topics in the future.  After careful consideration, I ended up going with a game that is very special to me, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. Continue reading Day 12: A Game Everyone Should Play

The Duck’s First Novel

Hello, everyone. I have something rather nifty to share with all of you, and I completely forgot about it until now. I finished my first novel. Now, in all honesty, it is, in fact, a fan fiction novel, but I still think it was a pretty cool accomplishment. This story is fan fiction for the awesome video game series “Jak and Daxter”, and it stars the main villains from the first game, Gol and Maia. You see, these wicked siblings were not always evil, but were made that way due to studying Dark Eco, a very corrupting substance, for far too long. This stuff warped their minds, which resulted in their decision to try and flood the world with Dark Eco so that they could remake it in their own image. Fortunately, they failed and ended up trapped inside the very Dark Eco silo they were trying to open.

In case you didn't believe me, here's the title.
In case you didn’t believe me, here’s the title.

And while it was implied in the “Jak 3” guide that the two were still alive centuries later during the events of the later games and could eventually return, this never happened, and how much can you really rely on what a guide says anyway? Nevertheless, I wanted so very badly to see another game with them in it, but since it appears that’s never going to happen, I decided it was time I took matters into my own hands. Gola and Maia would return, but it would be in the form of a novel I would write, proving all the more that I am an obsessive lunatic. Continue reading The Duck’s First Novel

The Duck Dreams of PlayStation Characters

I had a rather short dream the night of 8/7/14, but I wanted to write about it anyway because it related to one of my favorite games of all time, “Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy”. In this dream, the game apparently had a scene with Gol and Maia, the main villains, that got cut from the game, and I remember I was playing the game and exploring this place that was supposed to be Gol and Maia’s citadel, but it was more like a Medieval castle.  I remember being in this hallway, and there were these platforms that would only appear in the wall for a limited time, and you had to climb up them to get through this doorway.  I tried multiple times to climb up them as quickly as I could, and I eventually made it through the doorway, which ended up leading outside Continue reading The Duck Dreams of PlayStation Characters
