Seeing as our two Siamese kitten sisters, Rosalina and Carmelita, have proven to be an endless source of entertainment and silliness, I thought I’d write about another goofy story. Since we’re currently living in a rental, we have a huge pile of boxes overtaking the dining area. (Who uses dining rooms anyway when you can eat dinner on the couch in front of the TV…?) And our cats love chewing on cardboard, so we have a blanket on two of the boxes to prevent our feisty felines from tugging on a few bits of cardboard that have become loose. This story revolves around the fact that Rosie enjoys napping on this blanket and Carmelita’s obsession with going under blankets. Continue reading A Surprise from Beneath the Blanket: A Kitty Story
Good day, everyone! I always like to write about interesting things that have happened, both for sharing with you all and for myself to read about years down the road. And before I forget, I’d like to share a few silly stories about one of our two Siamese kittens, Carmelita. Rosalina, being the friendlier of the two, gets a lot of attention, and sometimes it’s good to focus especially on our dear Charmin’ Carmen. Continue reading Three Random Tails About Carmelita
Hope everyone’s doing well. Now that we’re several weeks into this COVID-19 thing, I can’t get over how quickly and unexpectedly life can change. One moment, our top goal in life is to find a new home so we can move out of our rental. The next, we’re discouraged from even leaving the house, let alone the whole state, and our top struggle is finding toilet paper rather than a new home. Continue reading Life Update: Empty Grocery Stores and Cuddly Kitties
I think it’s been a while since I last updated you guys about my two new kittens, Carmelita and Rosalina. One notable change is how much louder they are. Even as I type this, Rosalina is yelling at me even though lunch is 20 minutes away! Seriously, these are very talkative kitties. Carmelita still has a loud, normal meow, while Rosalina has a weird meow that sounds more like a duck quacking. Except it’s way louder and more frequent now. I find it hilarious that such an adorable kitty has such an ugly sounding meow! Continue reading Updates on Rosie, Carmelita…And I Guess Me, Too
G’day, everyone, just thought I’d write a little update concerning our two new kittens, Rosalina and Carmelita. Both kittens had several vet visits recently to finish their vaccines and to take care of a little tapeworm issue, but other than that, they’ve been quite happy and healthy and have grown a bit, too! Carmelita was a whopping six pounds when last we checked, while tiny Rosalina, probably the runt, was only three or four (I forget…or she gained a pound between vet appointments). Continue reading Over a Month with Carmelita and Rosalina
I am happy to introduce you all to the two newest felines to be adopted into the Duck’s household. Named after two gaming ladies (Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy and Carmelita from Sly Cooper), these two 9-week-old kitten sisters (predicted birthday June 23…though the papers say May 23…so are they actually three months old…? I’m so confused!!!) are Lynx Point Siamese, which basically means they’re a mix of Siamese and tabby cats. Carmelita (on the left in the banner) is the bigger, more beige one, while Rosalina (on the right) is the smaller, whiter one. Continue reading Introducing Carmelita and Rosalina!
Seeing as I am currently cat-less for the first time in four years, it is no wonder that cats have been on my mind quite a lot lately. And yet, though I deeply want to get another pet now that dear Elsa is no longer with us, I have no idea what’s going on with my life at the moment (it’s complicated), so getting a pet would currently be quite unwise. Even so, that does not mean my life is completely devoid of feline companions, because the nights of 3/6/19 and 3/7/19 were filled with dreams of these lovely, fluffy angels. I had mentioned in the past that I enjoy watching a Youtube channel called Kitten Academy. They foster kitties, and in addition to regular videos about their current adoptable kitties and non-adoptable “faculty”, they also have a 24/7 live stream where you can watch kittens play to your heart’s content. Lately, however, something special has been happening that I simply must tell you all about. Continue reading Tempest and Teacup
It should be more than clear by now that the Duck is a big fan of kitties. Having had many kitties of my own that are loved like the family they are, not to mention my ability to befriend almost any cat I meet, cats and I have a bond indeed. Therefore, it was quite a treat when I learned about a Youtube channel called Kitten Academy, which sports a 24-hour a day, 365-day a year live stream showing the many kittens they are currently fostering. This doesn’t include the live “Kitten Close-Ups” that take place every evening where, as the name suggests, you can see the kittens up close and personal.
Kitten Academy deserved a shout-out of its own because it is more than just a regular Youtube channel. The two people who run it, Mr. A and DJ, are kind people who have chosen to give up several rooms of their house and devote their spare time to fostering kittens until they can be adopted. In addition to the “alumni”, they also have six “faculty” cats who remain with them, from Headmaster Acro and the elusive Headmistress Smokey to several “Professors”, Custard, Loganberry, Ari, and Eddie. Oh, and they also have a very large, but very gentle dog named Elsie who seems to be in charge of ensuring that cats can get along with their canine counterparts. With a doggy as nice as Elsie, growing kittens can’t help but see dogs as friends rather than foes. Continue reading Youtuber Shout-Out: Kitten Academy
I have a really stupid idea for a business. It’s one I wish existed, but it’s still…really stupid. The idea is, well, you see…kitten rentals. That’s right, kitten rentals. Have you ever thought to yourself, I really want to snuggle with a great, big pile of kittens, without the commitment of purchasing copious amounts of the cottony felines? Well, I have. I have thought about this a lot, about as much as I obsess over my next visit to the bakery, which is also a lot, and there are times I have this overwhelming urge to just scoop up a zillion, large-headed, mewing kittens and snuggle with them. But, I see no practical way of doing this, aside from befriending someone in possession of a large number of kittens, whom you can use for a time for their kitteny goodness, and then fake your death once the kittens grow up and you have no need of their services anymore.
