A Surprise from Beneath the Blanket: A Kitty Story

Seeing as our two Siamese kitten sisters, Rosalina and Carmelita, have proven to be an endless source of entertainment and silliness, I thought I’d write about another goofy story.  Since we’re currently living in a rental, we have a huge pile of boxes overtaking the dining area.  (Who uses dining rooms anyway when you can eat dinner on the couch in front of the TV…?)  And our cats love chewing on cardboard, so we have a blanket on two of the boxes to prevent our feisty felines from tugging on a few bits of cardboard that have become loose.  This story revolves around the fact that Rosie enjoys napping on this blanket and Carmelita’s obsession with going under blankets. The Great Grape Massacre of 2020

If you’ve been following along with the Duck’s blog for the past year, then you’ll know we got two Siamese kittens back in August of 2019.  They are now a little over a year old, but as naughty as ever.  At the moment, they seem to have a great obsession with getting on the kitchen counter, and no amount of discipline has yet been able to dissuade them.  The only positive aspect of this obvious lack of respect for rules and boundaries is that it has led to three rather humorous tales. The Baby Bird and Its Posse of Protectors

Not too long ago, I woke up one morning to a sound that I could only describe as some very frantic and angry popcorn popping.  Utterly confused by the mysterious sound emanating from outside, I did not come to understand the source of the racket until I peered from a downstairs window.  A brown bird (a grackle, to be more precise) was standing on our neighbor’s roof, boldly scolding a cat standing on our fence.  The cat, who is known to patrol our fence-top from time to time, simply stared at the bird, seeming quite confused by the bird’s sudden rage. Three Random Tails About Carmelita

Good day, everyone!  I always like to write about interesting things that have happened, both for sharing with you all and for myself to read about years down the road.  And before I forget, I’d like to share a few silly stories about one of our two Siamese kittens, Carmelita.  Rosalina, being the friendlier of the two, gets a lot of attention, and sometimes it’s good to focus especially on our dear Charmin’ Carmen. Listmas 2019: Top 10 MST3K Episodes

Last year was the first year where I participated in Listmas on this here blog (though I’ve been Listmas-ing for much longer over on Virtual Bastion, in case you want to pay us a visit…).  Since listing things is a surprisingly fun pastime, I decided that I’d do it again this year.  To start things off, I felt like listing my favorite episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, a super fun series (recently revived on Netflix) where a guy and two robots watch and make fun of cruddy movies.  It’s a seriously fun time, and I’d highly recommend it if it sounds like your cup of tea.  Without further ado, my favorite episodes from the series…more or less (there were a lot to go through, so I may have missed a few…). The Reason Elsa’s Toys Are Always Moist

Recently, my cat Elsa has begun a very strange habit.  To put it simply, she drowns her toys.  Despite having many pets over the years, I have never seen this before.  You see, starting a few weeks ago, Elsa’s jingly mouse toys have been ending up in her water bowl.  I thought she had been doing it by accident, as she likes to toss them, but it just kept happening, leading me to wonder if itwas, in fact, entirely on purpose. All Species Enjoy Marshmallows

You may have heard that I have a fairly new pet, a grey tabby cat named Elsa Vanille.  Elsa, for short.  (And no, she’s not named after the Frozen character.  Just forget about that movie, people!  Every time I go to the store, I hear little kids asking their parents for Elsa merchandise, if it’s available.  And while it’s a perfectly good movie, this confuses me to no end because the first Elsa that comes to mind now is my cat.  Just…let it go, let it…  Okay, I’ll stop.)  Ahem.  Well, while Elsa was quite a feisty thing back in the day (and by “back in the day”, I mean several months ago), well, she is still quite feisty, but in a manner that is far less annoying.  In fact, I’ve grown quite attached to her, and I thought I’d share a couple of her goofy antics, which are cute enough to warm even the heart of the abdominal snowman himself.  Or herself.  But then again, that would be an abdominal snowlady….  Let’s return to the topic now.
