DRTC Continues with Random Game Modes on Virtual Bastion

Death Road to Canada isn’t over yet, folks!  Now it’s time to attempt several more game modes in our efforts to reach Canada and survive the zombie apocalypse!

  • Short Trip to Heck Mode: We’ll only have 9 days to reach Canada instead of the usual 15.  Sounds great, until you remember that we also have less time to prepare for the final siege…
  • Rare Characters Mode: Just as the name suggests, we’ll be joined by more rare characters than usual!
  • Long Winding Road Mode: Now we have to survive for 25 days instead of 15.  At least we’ll have more time to hoard our weapons for maximum zombie-slaying goodness!

DRTC: Four Jerks Mode Returns on Virtual Bastion

Like a zombie rising from its grave, Death Road to Canada has returned once more!  Although we were unable to finish Four Jerks Mode back in October, I’ve got a whole new group of characters to add to our growing roster.  Will we finally reach Canada or will we die trying?  (We’ll probably die, as Four Jerks Mode has 30% more zombies!)

The United States has been infested with zombies, and our only hope for survival is to reach Canada!  Join the Duck and various custom characters as we fight zombies, gather supplies, and encounter no shortage of bad luck in this challenging roguelike game.  We WILL die, but fortunately, every randomly-generated playthrough will be different!

Spooky Mini-Review #3: Paranorman

We found this particular movie for free on the Roku channel. Paranorman is a stop-motion movie from 2012 about a boy who can talk to the dead. Of course, no one believes him until an old curse breaks loose, resurrecting several zombies in the process. The movie was a lot of fun and even features some good plot twists. Plus, I always love some well done stop-motion!

This time, we’re going to be playing Four Jerks Mode, which allows us to start with a car of four characters.  The downside: 30% more zombies!

Can You Survive the Death Road to Canada?

Death Road to Canada is an Oregon Trail-inspired, roguelike game where your group must survive the long road from Florida to Canada during the zombie apocalypse.  Along the way, you encounter new people to recruit to your team, gather supplies, and make tough decisions that can have serious consequences.  And once a team member dies, that’s it!  The Death Road has claimed yet another victim, and all you can do is move forward and hope for the best.

Carmelita Likes to T-Pose

Our pair of Siamese cat sisters are quite goofy and not a day goes by where they don’t make us laugh at their antics.  Carmelita has an odd habit of laying on her stomach in a manner where she appears to be hugging the ground.  (I like to call it T-posing, ha ha!)  I finally got some photos to show off her outrageous cuteness!

Mourning Doves Have Poor Planning Skills

Recently, Mother Duck noticed a bunch of twigs and various other plant scraps littering the corner of our patio, surrounding the base of one of the support beams for the pergola.  When she looked up, she found a pair of mourning doves trying in utter futility to build a nest.  Unfortunately, the space was simply too cramped and exposed for a nest to find purchase.  The little bird couple have since given up, but I took a few photos to commemorate the adorable event!

Rosie and Carmen Get Bunk Beds

I recently realized that I hadn’t written about my dear Siamese kitties lately, Rosalina and Carmelita, and so this vile mistake must be corrected immediately.  It all revolves around a few photos I took recently, but for the sake of making this into a proper blog post, a little backstory is in order.  Let the padding commence!

The Paper Bag Strikes Again

So it’s late at night, probably ten or eleven, and I hear a crash from downstairs.  Almost in unison, Mother Duck and I emerge from our rooms at the commotion.  She tells me the cats came running into her room, and so, while she goes downstairs to investigate, I go to check on the kitties.  Carmelita is nowhere to be found, but Rosalina (pictured above) is peeking out from underneath Mother Duck’s bed, looking quite shaken.  On closer inspection, I discover that she has the handle from a paper bag hanging from her neck like a bizarre piece of jewelry (not unlike something Camelita did a while back…).
