G’day, folks, today we are comparing two pictures I drew of Razoff from Rayman 3, a rather…eccentric hunter who dwells in the Bog of Murk and who seems to dream of one day owning a “Rayman-skin rug”. My older picture is from 2012, in which I was inspired by Razoff’s many portraits. (Yes, the guy’s mansion is decorated quite profusely with pictures and statues of himself. Suffice it to say, he’s got an unhealthy obsession with his own mug.) My newest picture was done quite recently and includes one of my very rare backgrounds. I thought Razoff’s mansion would be a great place to practice some lighting and shading because the place is lit by all manner of fireplaces and candle-bearing chandeliers.Continue reading Drawing Razoff 9 Years Later
This post comes a bit late for Halloween, but I wanted to share with you all some drawings I did for the month of October. Months ago, I tried my hand at color palettes, the theme being the amazing game, Hollow Knight, that I had recently had the pleasure of playing. Since I had so much fun with this style of drawing, I decided to do a whole set of Haunted Mansion pictures in this style for the spookiest month of the year. Behold!Continue reading Haunted Mansion Color Palettes for October 2020
Behold, another drawing comparison! I love doing these, as it’s a great way to see how much I’ve improved over the years. It’s also a bit painful to see how horrid my old pictures are…. Anyway, this is a comparison of two drawings I made of Vin from Jak II, which were drawn 7 years apart! Continue reading Drawing Vin 7 Years Later
I’ve now been on Deviant Art for two full years, which means it’s time for another art summary! Looking over last year’s summary, I’m happy to say that I’ve certainly improved. Since last year, I’ve gotten much better at coloring eyes, and I’ve also been experimenting on better ways to color hair. This upcoming year, I’d like to start drawing more dynamic poses and more complex images in general, with more action and possibly more character interaction, as well. Here’s to another year of doodling! Continue reading 2019 Art Summary
I recently entered my first contest on DeviantArt. The rules are to make a 4K wallpaper with the theme of Flower Power. Three people can win an LG UltraFine Display, while a whopping 22 people can win a 1-year Core Membership. While I actually have no need for a fancy pants computer monitor, and also don’t expect to win anyway, I decided to enter just for the fun of it. Continue reading Flower Power Contest on DeviantArt
G’day, folks! Just thought I’d share with you all a new t-shirt design I added over on my Spreadshirt Marketplace. I actually haven’t added any designs in over a year or so, but I finally had some inspiration. And it all started with a little piece of fan art I did… Continue reading New Eiffel Tower T-Shirt Design!
Things over on Deviant Art have been going pretty well. It came as quite a surprise when I started receiving a few requests, despite being a relative newcomer to the site. The first request was for a game I had never played before and the second was for literature, something I’d rather not do (the only requests I accept are for artwork). Finally, my third request was for Rayman and an original character, which I took to with gusto. It was my first real request, after all, which was quite exciting indeed. The Duck has always wished to be, at the very least, a semi-competent artist. But try as I may, I could never draw with the level of skill I so desired. Maybe I just didn’t try hard enough. Maybe I didn’t want it badly enough. Maybe…maybe I just didn’t have what it takes. Whatever the case, after years of trying, I just…gave up…sometime during 2013, I believe. It was a dark day for mediocre art indeed. Continue reading The Duck Has Joined Deviant Art!
