1-Month Core Membership on DA from Ry-Spirit

A few days ago, Ry-Spirit, one of the artists on Deviant Art that I watch, posted a journal entry asking people to post their best work in the comments, with the possibility of receiving a Diamond Badge in return.  I posted one of my most recent pictures, some fan art I drew of Crispin Whytehead from Psychonauts.  I was rather proud of the background, which features Lake Oblongata.  I ended up receiving a Diamond Badge, which also includes a 1-Month Core Membership!  So special thanks to Ry-Spirit for his kindness!

Little Nightmares Color Palettes for October 2021

I always like to do something special for October, so this year, I decided to create a set of four Little Nightmares pictures.  In a fashion similar to my Haunted Mansion pictures from last year, these new drawings were colored using the color palettes that you can find at this link.  While I’ve been slowly posting these pictures to my Deviant Art account, my dear readers get an early look at my fourth and final picture, which I plan to post to DA on Halloween.

Little Nightmares Face Practice

Every October, I try to draw something special for the spookiest time of the year.  Last year was a set of Haunted Mansion color palette pictures.  This year, I’m doing the same thing, except the theme is going to be Little Nightmares instead.  As I prepared, I practiced drawing a bunch of characters from the series (excluding Very Little Nightmares, which I’ve never played) using screenshots, concept art, and reference sheets created by TheCreatorsEye on Deviant Art (who has been working for the last few years on an excellent Little Nightmares comic that is updated on Tuesdays, by the way).

Drawing Razoff 9 Years Later

G’day, folks, today we are comparing two pictures I drew of Razoff from Rayman 3, a rather…eccentric hunter who dwells in the Bog of Murk and who seems to dream of one day owning a “Rayman-skin rug”.  My older picture is from 2012, in which I was inspired by Razoff’s many portraits.  (Yes, the guy’s mansion is decorated quite profusely with pictures and statues of himself.  Suffice it to say, he’s got an unhealthy obsession with his own mug.)  My newest picture was done quite recently and includes one of my very rare backgrounds.  I thought Razoff’s mansion would be a great place to practice some lighting and shading because the place is lit by all manner of fireplaces and candle-bearing chandeliers.

Haunted Mansion Color Palettes for October 2020

This post comes a bit late for Halloween, but I wanted to share with you all some drawings I did for the month of October.  Months ago, I tried my hand at color palettes, the theme being the amazing game, Hollow Knight, that I had recently had the pleasure of playing.  Since I had so much fun with this style of drawing, I decided to do a whole set of Haunted Mansion pictures in this style for the spookiest month of the year.  Behold!

Drawing Vin 7 Years Later

Behold, another drawing comparison!  I love doing these, as it’s a great way to see how much I’ve improved over the years.  It’s also a bit painful to see how horrid my old pictures are….  Anyway, this is a comparison of two drawings I made of Vin from Jak II, which were drawn 7 years apart! 2019 Art Summary

I’ve now been on Deviant Art for two full years, which means it’s time for another art summary!  Looking over last year’s summary, I’m happy to say that I’ve certainly improved.  Since last year, I’ve gotten much better at coloring eyes, and I’ve also been experimenting on better ways to color hair.  This upcoming year, I’d like to start drawing more dynamic poses and more complex images in general, with more action and possibly more character interaction, as well.  Here’s to another year of doodling! Flower Power Contest on DeviantArt

I recently entered my first contest on DeviantArt.  The rules are to make a 4K wallpaper with the theme of Flower Power.  Three people can win an LG UltraFine Display, while a whopping 22 people can win a 1-year Core Membership.  While I actually have no need for a fancy pants computer monitor, and also don’t expect to win anyway, I decided to enter just for the fun of it. New Eiffel Tower T-Shirt Design!

G’day, folks!  Just thought I’d share with you all a new t-shirt design I added over on my Spreadshirt Marketplace.  I actually haven’t added any designs in over a year or so, but I finally had some inspiration.  And it all started with a little piece of fan art I did… Continue reading New Eiffel Tower T-Shirt Design!

The Quest for Requests on Deviant Art

Things over on Deviant Art have been going pretty well.  It came as quite a surprise when I started receiving a few requests, despite being a relative newcomer to the site.  The first request was for a game I had never played before and the second was for literature, something I’d rather not do (the only requests I accept are for artwork).  Finally, my third request was for Rayman and an original character, which I took to with gusto.  It was my first real request, after all, which was quite exciting indeed.
