I Dream of Hungry Zombies

The night of 2/3/21, I had one of those weird dreams where you keep “waking up”, only to realize it’s just another dream.  The dream began with zombies in our house (it didn’t look like any house we had ever lived in before, though).  Mother Duck and I had trapped the zombies somewhere, and we were trying to figure out what to do about them.  These were rather strange zombies, though.  They didn’t just eat brains.  Rather, they had a ravenous hunger for anything and everything, and there was a very real possibility that, if these zombies escaped, they would somehow manage to eat the world’s supply of food so quickly, everyone on the planet would starve and die before it could be replenished!  (Such an idea seems pretty absurd now, but in my dream, it seemed very dire indeed!  Seriously, how could just a handful of zombies eat that much food so quickly?  How would they even cross the ocean?  Would they board planes?  Zombies don’t have passports!)

Well, the zombies escaped, and I remember going into my room and hiding under the blankets of my bed.  (Totally a valid hiding spot, Duck…)  The zombies found me, and I remember seeing the shape of a finger as one of the zombies tried to poke me through the sheets.  I ended up grabbing the zombie’s hand and, with my completely real and not imaginary ninja skills, I managed to attack the zombies and possibly subdue them.  Or something like that.  I don’t remember what happened too well because that’s when I woke up…

…in my grandma’s house (again, not a house she’s ever lived in).  I told her I had a dream about zombies created by some sort of virus, and she said it was a weird coincidence because her and her friends were just talking about a similar virus.  We both found this to be pretty freaky indeed, until…

…I “woke up” again, this time in my current bedroom.  It was night time, and my Windows 7 computer was on and updating.  The desktop turned green and looked really odd, and I was worried it had updated to Windows 10 without my permission.  Not only are the involuntary updates they force upon you nowadays aggravating even in real life, but in my dream, I was very worried that my capture card would no longer be compatible with my computer due to said updates.  Needless to say, I was relieved when I woke up and found that my computer was exactly as I had left it.

Lastly, a few nights prior, I had a silly dream where I was in this yellow house that belonged to the villain of Yooka-Laylee, a bee businessman named Capital B.  I thought it was weird he had a small house because he seemed like he should be rich.  I don’t remember any other details from this particular dream; I just thought the premise alone was kind of amusing….

    1. I also have dreams where my mind realizes it’s a dream, but I don’t wake up. It’s sometimes kind of creepy knowing I’m “awake”, yet stuck in my own head. On the flip-side, it’s nice when I have a bad dream, but I realize that it’s just a dream.

I have this recurring dream revolving around an unpleasant memory. It feels real…except for one detail. Once I notice that detail, I immediately realize that it’s just another dream, and I don’t feel as nervous anymore, since I know I’ll wake up from it eventually.

      1. YES. Same. I’ve had lucid dreams before. I just need to get up earlier than usually, do something/go somewhere that makes me need to wake up then go back to bed, and it works like clockwork.

I have recurring dreams about elevators going haywire. I’ll get into them and they’ll always keep going past the floor I need to go to. It’s gotten to the point where I’m aware it’s going to happen in the dream, but I still try lol.

      2. My dream involves phones. I really hate answering the phone, even for people I know, so in my dream, I’m terrified the phone will ring…but it never does. So now I realize it’s a dream when the phone doesn’t ring for a long time, and I just kind of relax until I wake up. I’ve been having this dream for probably five years now, but I didn’t catch on until recently, ha ha!

      3. Me too!!! I HATE talking on the phone. I much prefer texting or messaging. It’s better for me because it gives me time to think about what I’m going to say. I tend to think of things to say later and you can’t really do that when you’re on the phone with someone.

  1. Interesting dreams! I’m afraid my dreams are more interesting than my blog. Dreams are mysterious for sure. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your story! Blessings. – My§
