2020 Art Summary

G’day, folks!  I’m happy to present you all with my newest art summary for 2020!

2020 art summary

Over the course of this past year, I think I’ve improved in how I color eyes, and I have experimented more with coloring hair, as well, with my best attempts being August and September (it’s harder to see in the latter example, though).  Also, my most popular picture of all time on DA happened to be September’s picture (with 127 favorites), which is pictured in its entirety below.  This beat out the earlier winner from March, which had 83.  I also seem to have developed a habit of giving characters more prominently rosy cheeks starting in May (with the exception of characters who are furry, dead, or plants).

Crash and Coco, bein’ silly

This was also the year where I tried a few new things, namely coloring using color palettes (March and October) and attempting the rubber hose drawing style from the 1920’s and 30’s (May and June), in which I practiced drawing various characters from Cuphead.  Both of these new methods were a lot of fun and definitely something I’d like to do more of in the future.

I’m still mostly sticking with single-character pictures with simple backgrounds, and while I’d like to start drawings pictures with multiple characters and more complex backgrounds, I’m not sure if I will or not since it is clearly more time-consuming.  My goal every year is to do at least one picture a month for the sake of my art summary, so I don’t always feel motivated to create pictures that might take more than a month to make.  I would certainly like to try drawing more complicated pictures (more complex poses and angles would be nice to learn, as well).  I just can’t guarantee that it’s something that I’ll end up doing in the near future.

Well, there won’t be another art summary until December of 2021.  But in the meantime, you can find more of my art on Deviant Art, which is updated at least once a month.  For previous art summaries, you can find them here:
