Inktober 2019 Highlights Week 1

Good day, dear readers!  I decided to do Inktober this year, which is a little drawing event where you get a topic for every day in October to draw and ink, either digitally or in the traditional way.  You can start the first day of September, which means I have been giving myself two days per picture.  And let me tell you, I am feeling extremely tired from drawing far more than I’m used to….

So while I’m posting a picture every day this month on Deviant Art, I also thought it would be fun each week to post my top 3 or 4 pictures here on my blog.  I have been drawing these pictures by hand and inking them with my Sakura brand inking pens.  The contrast is adjusted on Photoshop to make the ink darker, as it scans into the computer as a light grey.

My inspiration is sometimes rather loosely based off the topic at hand, but either way, it’s been good practice forcing myself to draw on a nearly daily basis and to draw things I wouldn’t normally, um, draw.  So, without further ado, my top picks from the first week of Inktober 2019!  Please forgive my cruddy inking skills.  I’m still learning.

#1: Ring

Rings make me think of weddings, so here’s the Haunted Mansion’s axe-wielding bride, Constance Hatchaway.  Clearly I have a darker view of weddings than the average person….

#2: Mindless

What’s more mindless than a zombie?  This is my favorite this week, the zombified King Jingaling from Banjo-Tooie.

#4: Freeze

Vexen from Kingdom Hearts, wielding his ice powers.  Ironically, this is topic #4, and Vexen is #4 in Organization XIII.  Coincidence?  I think so!

#7: Enchanted

I’ve never drawn a horse before, so this was good practice.  This unicorn is supposed to be the one from The Last Unicorn.

      1. Thanks! I’m following you on DA now, too! Yeah, I wrote a lot of fan fiction in the past, though I haven’t had as much time for it lately, since so much of my focus goes to YouTube and Deviant Art nowadays. It’s a lot of fun whenever I can make time for it, though.
