The newest of the 30-day video game topics is my current or most recent video game-themed wallpaper. As much as I would like to have actual video game wallpaper, I’m assuming they must mean my computer’s desktop. And due to my obvious level of obsession with all things gaming, it should come as no surprise to anyone that I do indeed have a video game desktop.
I actually went through many different images for my desktop in the semi-distant past. I…don’t remember most of them, but I do recall having a screenshot of the secret ending of Donkey Kong Country 2, where the Kongs are gazing at the sunset, along with a Jak 2 screensaver. That’s right, there was a Jak 2 screensaver, which I earned by completing this odd, little game on the game’s official web site. It had Jak sitting in jail, looking bored, while bugs crawled around and the sky outside would change depending on the time of day. Kind of…weird, to say the last.
It wasn’t until this awesome Kingdom Hearts image that I finally found a desktop I really liked and actually stuck with for a prolonged period of time, and it is this desktop that remains to this day on my old Windows XP computer. Which still works. It just has no Internet. Which is a bit sad. The image was that massive picture that had the Kingdom Hearts 2 characters on the left and the Chain of Memories characters on the right. I’m not sure how things are copyright-wise with that picture, so I have not included it here for your viewing enjoyment, but anyone familiar with Kingdom Hearts might know what I’m talking about. Maybe. Not sure. If you want to see it, just search for “kingdom hearts 2 final mix” and look at images. You’ll probably see what I’m talking about.
My current desktop, however, is actually a screenshot from Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. During my many hours spent on the Internet, I once managed to find a whole bunch of screenshots from the game that include my favorite character of all time, the sinister, and also quite goofy, Dr. Nefarious. I saved all of them because…I’m very weird, I guess and I used the image that was the best quality.

There it is, desktop icons and all. And this particular screenshot also includes Nefarious’ snarky butler, Lawrence. Oh, goody. It’s also a very clean, clutter-free desktop, which is quite nice. What about you, what’s your computer desktop, gaming-related or otherwise? I’d like to know. That’s why I ask.
Now You’ve Seen My Awesome…Ducktop?
Very cool!

Very nice Duck! That’s a particularly good screen of Nefarious too. Good choice!
To answer your question, I’m kinda just using a generic wallpaper right now. Nothing cool (windows update reset it and I haven’t found a new image yet).
However, I was using a screenshot from the original Mirror’s Edge for most of this year. It’s one taken from the first rooftop of the game, showing off the city in all its minimalistic glory! It’s been eight years, but the game still looks good!
Before that, it was Mass Effect concept art for a very long time. 😀

It is indeed a rather nice screenshot. The other screenshots I found of him were fuzzy or he looked really weird, so this was the best choice. I even get Lawrence in the background, too. Video game screenshots/artwork make the best desktops. I bet your Mirror’s Edge desktop was cool. I only played a little bit of the original game (I stopped because it made my XBox 360 loud, which rather scared me), but it certainly looked interesting.
